Cleanliness Fortnight: UPHC Kohima creates awareness on sanitation and hygiene

Kohima, April 16 (MExN): As part of the Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban Primary Health Center (UPHC), Kohima observed Swachhata Pakhwada/Cleanliness Fortnight 2018 - ‘Swachhata Se Siddhi’ from April 1 to 15.  

Facility and community level activities were carried out by the team to create awareness on sanitation and hygiene during the fortnight, according to a press release.  

At the community level, health camp cum sanitation drive and awareness campaign was organized at Kezieke and Daklane on April 6 and 13 respectively. Free consultation, medicines, basic laboratory tests, immunization, IEC and Family Planning Services were provided at the camps.  

The Cleanliness Fortnight was also observed at Oriental College and Govt. Middle School, Seikhazou on April 11 and 12. The students were imparted the importance of sanitation and hygiene during the occasion. Staffs of UPHC, Kohima also carried out cleanliness drive.  

Meanwhile, World Health Day 2018 under the theme ‘Universal Health Coverage: everyone, everywhere’ was observed at the health centre on April 7. An open poster competition was organized for the students on the topics, 3H – Healthy Attitude, Healthy Habits & Healthy Lifestyle and Cleanliness and Sanitation.  

Out of the 46 entries received, Neizokhonuo bagged the first prize while Theguoneizo Rutsa and Neiketouzo won the second and third prizes respectively, the press release informed.  

It mentioned that during the fortnight, intensive training on Standard Cleaning Practices and Patient Care were imparted to the housekeeping and paramedical staffs of UPHC. Over 500 community members took part in the various activities of the Swachhata Pakhwada 2018 - ‘Swachhata Se Siddhi’ campaign, it added.
