Dimapur, October 29 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang has appointed Phushika Awomi as his Press Officer, a press note from the Media Cell, Chief Minister's Office informed today. Prior to his current appointment, Awomi was serving as the Associate Press Secretary in the NPF Central Office since 2011, it added. As a young activist, among other responsibilities, he had served as the President of the Naga Students’ Federation (2005-07) and Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (2001-03). Welcoming the new Press Officer, the Press Secretary to the Chief Minister Sebastian Zumvu expressed hope and confidence that the Media Cell will be greatly benefitted by Awomi’s vast knowledge and experience. According to notification from the government, the initial period of appointment of Press Officer is for one year from the date of assuming charge, subject to “termination from either side giving one month’s advance notice.” The appointment is also co-terminus with the tenure of the Chief Minister and carries an honorarium of Rs. 50,000 per month.
