CM for early completion of new residence

Kohima, May 18 (MExN): Chief Minister TR Zeliang today inspected the ongoing construction of the new Chief Minister’s residential office cum buildings behind the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.  

A release issued by the Media Cell, Chief Minister’s Office stated that the CM’s residential complex consists of a building for the CM’s residence, another building for the office, a VVIP guest house, state banquet hall, 47 units of staff quarters, barracks for security personnel and drivers, security fencing, road constructions, retaining walls, foot paths, etc.  

Till date, an amount of Rs 56.83 crore has been sanctioned and 90% of the works have been completed. For the second and last phase, an amount of Rs 31.09 crore is being processed for Government’s approval. Once the amount is sanctioned, the entire complex is expected to be completed this year.  

The Chief Minister today assured the contractors and the departmental officers that he will ensure enough funds at the earliest for completion of the project, according to the release. The CM also urged the contractors M/s NN Construction & Décor, Nagaland, to hasten up so the complex can become operational latest by the end of this year.  

The release mentioned that the Government decided to construct a new residential office cum building for the Chief Minister towards the New Secretariat way back in 2001 and actual works could start only in 2003 on a 14-acre plot of land.
