Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today inaugurated a newly constructed school building of the Government Middle School (GMS), Seikhazou, D. Khel, Kohima Village. This newly constructed is perhaps the best GMS building in Nagaland. The school house 270 students at present. Out of Rs. 47, 50, 450 involved towards the construction of this GMS building, a total installment of Rs. 18,59, 200 received from SSA while the rest amount borne by D. Khel council and donation by the khel citizens/individuals. As per NPWD schedule of rate 2010, the present value of the building is Rs. 1 crore 45 lacs (including rain water harvesting tank, toilet and septic tank, completed fencing and gate).
Addressing the gathering, Rio expressed his happiness over the construction of this magnificent school building, which he said would motivate the teachers and boost the morale of the students. He lauded the contribution of the D. Khel citizens in getting this magnificent building constructed through the support of the government. Rio asserted that unity and public participation has made such project possible, adding that it had set an example to other schools and villages to follow the suit. On imparting education in the formative years, Rio said a strong foundation at the primary and middle level is essential.
Rio said that due attention if given in the formative years would go a long way in enriching the school children a bright prospect at the higher level, thereby enable them to become a responsible and an asset to the society tomorrow. The Chief Minister maintained discipline and hard work as the foremost quality the students must acquire to shine in their academic career. He also asked the students to prioritize their routine in the area of study and its involvement in sports and extra-curricular activities. To the teachers, Rio reminded them to know their enormous responsibility in nurturing the young minds. He said teachers should be very sincere in educating the children, adding that the successful journey of the students in the field of education depends on the contribution of the teachers. Also terming teaching as an honourable and dignify job, Rio challenged the teachers to give commitment to their job.
Earlier, the function was chaired by Ruokuo Kire while welcome address was delivered by MLA Dr. Nicky Kire, convenor building committee. Er. Kereisiezo Sachii read out building construction committee report while vote of thanks was proposed by head teacher Kikrulhoulie Khezhie. Parliamentary secretary for IPR, printing & stationary Er. Kropol Vitsu and advisor music task force and new & renewable energy Khriehu Liezietsu also present on the occasion.
