Providing a much-needed healthcare to the rural population of Tzurangkong under Mokokchung district, the CM-MOT (Chief Minister's Mobile Operation Theatre) made a positive impact on the local community by conducting 20 major surgeries, three minor surgeries, 35 dental procedures and six ultrasounds on June 23.
Tzurangkong is the 14th rural place in the 9th district that the dedicated CM-MOT Team led by Member of Legislative Assembly, Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhütso, has covered since the launch of the initiative on January 26 this year.
The other members comprise of doctors with various specialties, including Dr Keneilhoulie Medom, Managing Director of Kohima Hospital, Dr Kuotho Nyuwi, Oncosurgeon and Assistant Professor at NIMSR, Dr Moa Temjen, General Surgeon and Senior Resident at NIMSR and Dr Lanu Meren Mollier, Dental Surgeon.
“During our recent visit to Tzurangkong Primary Health Centre (PHC), we were faced with the challenge of insufficient beds and we had a large number of patients turning up for surgery,” Dr Keneilhoulie Medom related to The Morung Express. The PHC, where a comprehensive health care was conducted, has only 6 beds making it a challenge to provide medical care to all the patients who came to avail it.
In this regard, Dr Medom said, “the Assam Rifles came to our rescue, providing beds, bed sheets, and shade for patient parties.” Since the inception of CM-MOT, he said that “the Assam Rifles has been a true friend of the hill people, extending a helping hand in almost all the rural stations.”
He particularly acknowledged DG Vikas Lakhera for his guidance and leadership while further expressing that, “his vision and support have enabled the Assam Rifles to be proactive in assisting us at every station. Their subordinate personnel have been diligent in providing help whenever needed, and we appreciate their dedication.”
He went on to say that the Assam Rifles' motto, “Friends of the Hill People,” is truly reflected in their actions and further added that, “Their selfless service and commitment to helping those in need are a testament to their noble values. We are grateful for their partnership and look forward to continuing our work together.”
