Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has unequivocally denied the allegations by a “certain leader of an underground group” that he paid the NSCN-IM Rs 38 Crores and that underground cadres traveled in the CM’s escort vehicles. “The Chief Minister hereby makes it clear that these allegations are false and baseless and hold no truth. He is of the opinion that these allegations have been made with a motive to create confusion and vitiate the present atmosphere in the State” asserted a refutation issued by the CM’s Press Secretary. “The Chief Minister also makes it clear that the people will reflect at, firstly on the credibility of the person concerned and the organization he represents” it stated without naming the “underground leader” or the organization.
The Chief Minister while denying what he termed as “baseless” allegations, appealed to all sections of the people to work towards peace and understanding, desisting from creating confusions and divisions. “The DAN government is clear in its declared policy of equi-closeness and once again reiterates the fact that the government will leave no stone unturned in its endeavor to facilitate the peace process and work towards achievement of an honorable settlement acceptable to the people” it was reiterated.
