DIMAPUR, JUNE 18 (MExN): In the backdrop of the June 17 ambush carried out by the NSCN (K) in Mon district where two Assam Rifles personnel lost their lives, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has appealed to the NSCN (K) to end hostilities; and return to ceasefire and peace talks so that all stakeholders can be part of the peace process in the greater interest of the Naga family.
A press communiqué from the Media Cell, Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) while condemning the act and said such violence have no place in the Naga society, particularly at a time when Nagas were yearning for lasting peace after decades of strife and bloodshed.
The Chief Minister also maintained that the PDA government is committed towards an early and inclusive resolution of the long-standing Indo-Naga conflict and has repeatedly declared that it will be an active facilitator in the peace process so that the Nagas can live in peace without compromising our unique culture, identity and traditions which has been recognized by the Government of India.
The State Government held a consultative meeting with its Political Affairs Committee, PDA Legislators and the 14 (Fourteen) Naga Tribal Hobos on May 11, 2018 at the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. The house while appreciating the positive approach of the NSCN (IM) and NNPGs, further appealed to all the other Naga national political groups to come together under the spirit of unity and join the political negotiations in the greater interest of the people, the Chief Minister said.
He also reminded on how the house further appealed to the NSCN (K) to return to the negotiating table and restore its ceasefire with the Government of India to enable an all-inclusive peace process and work towards an early solution in the interest of all Nagas.
ENPO opposed to any form of violence within its jurisdiction
DIMAPUR, JUNE 18 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples Organization (ENPO) & 6 Federating tribal bodies have condemned the ambush carried on the Assam Rifles by the NSCN (K) where at least three security personnel were killed and around six injured on June 17. Media cell, ENPO in a condemnation note reminded all concerned of its December 18, 2007 Tuensang resolution and subsequent affirmations, wherein, the public of Eastern Nagaland are opposed to any form of violence, threats, intimidations or bloodshed within its jurisdiction. The ENPO has reiterated its appeal to all concerned to maintain peace and tranquility and to honor the same in the interest of peace in the region in particular and the entire State in general.
