CM Road Development Fund: ZPON defends allocation

Peren, March 23 (MExN): Following objections raised over Chief Minister’s Road Development Fund (CMRDF) from various quarters and lately NPCC's demand to cancel entire process of its allocation, Zeliang People Organization Nagaland (ZPON) today stated that the road to hospital in Jalukie Town, for which fund has been allocated for repair under the scheme, was in a deteriorating condition for the last 3-4 years making it inconvenient for the patients.

According to a press statement from ZPON Secretary, Kera G Dumtta and President, Kezin, soiling, metalling and black topping of the road was executed in advance by the construction company on public demand and pressure before the fund was released.

The organization further lamented that since TR Zeliang became the Chief Minister, “he was not given a single free day to execute the state of affairs smoothly and peacefully, and now even after dethroning him from the chair, some people are still feeling insecure of his vision, ability and statesmanship and hurling different unwanted allegation against him, in spite of his supreme sacrifice by stepping down honorably from the comfort and power of his chair.”

Alleging that “some political parties…had started hunting against a particular leader or district,” it wondered, “What will be the fate of our future development? There are numbers of developmental schemes and projects under various departments, and if we only talk about equal distribution in all these? How can we take the development forward?”

In this light, the organization requested the NPCC to find out if any district is left out of CMRDF or “cite any one example of such equal distribution of fund by any of the past leader or Chief Minister be it in any regime to justify their statement.”

“NPCC may kindly point out if there is any doubts or lapses and set up an inquiry commission if this project was not implemented in any manner,” it added.

The ZPON also urged upon all the social and political organization to be “within their limitation in labeling allegation against someone.”   Meanwhile, it expressed gratitude to TR Zeliang for allocating fund for the road repair and the construction company for carrying out the work.
