With just days left for the Dr T Ao Inter-District Football Trophy, host Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) gave the details of the schedules for the trophy at a press conference on April 1. The trophy will be held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
Co-convenor, Imlikumzuk, informed that all the participating teams from the 16 districts will be reaching Mokokchung on April 17 and the opening ceremony for the same will be held on the April 18, followed by the start of matches from April 19.
He also informed that the opening ceremony will be graced by Agriculture & Cooperation Minister, G Kaito Aye as the special guest while the closing programme along with the final match will be graced by Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio.
The prize money for the trophy was also announced during the press conference. The champion and the runners up will win Rs 3 lakh and the Rs 2 lakh respectively. Besides, there will be various other prizes including individual prizes too.
On the renovation and face-lift of the venue, Imkongmeren Sports Complex, MDFA President, Meyisanger Lemtur said that the MDFA despite the limited resources, they were trying their best to go ahead with the major renovation works at the venue. He said that various governmental departments in the district are helping the association in whichever way they can and acknowledged the contributions made by everyone.
He appealed to the people of Mokokchung to participate in one of the biggest events of the district as responsible citizens and to view things from a positive point of view. He also urged the citizens to come forward with suggestions and contribute towards the successful hosting of the event.
