Kohima, June 19 (MExN): The Chakhesang Mothers’ Association (CMA) organised a basket making training programme for women folk at Pfutsero on June 18 last.
It was sponsored by the Department of Women Resource Development, Government of Nagaland under the theme “Empowering women through self sustenance.”
60 women turned up at the training programme which was was launched by Pfutsero EAC Dr Riku Khutso.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Riku encouraged that gathering to promote the use of basket for shopping instead of using single-use plastics.
The programme’s objective was to enhance basket making skills of the girls and mothers and enable them to focus on commercial production for self sustenance.
It also aims at replacing single-use plastics in Phek district.
Earlier, the programme was led by CMA president Zhonelü Tunyi.
