CMHIS, PM-JAY misuse flagged

NHPS urges empanelled hospitals to strictly provide cashless treatment under schemes

Kohima, July 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) has raised concerns over reports that some empanelled hospitals are providing treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) only on a “reimbursement” basis instead of offering the mandated cashless service.

In an official statement, the NHPS noted that such practices compromise the objectives of both schemes, which are designed to provide beneficiaries with access to quality healthcare services without out-of-pocket expenses at the point of care.

“It has come to the notice of the Nagaland Health Protection Society (NHPS) that a few empanelled hospitals are currently operating on a ‘reimbursement only’ basis rather than offering the intended cashless treatment under AB PM JAY and CMHIS,” the statement said.

To ensure that beneficiaries receive the full entitled benefits, NHPS has requested all empanelled hospitals to strictly adhere to cashless treatment protocols and “refrain from imposing any additional charges on patients.”

The NHPS also issued guidelines for beneficiaries to help safeguard their rights. “Please present your AB PM JAY/CMHIS card at the time of admission,” it stated.

Beneficiaries were specifically advised to report immediately if they are asked to pay for any services, including purchase of medicine/consumables, diagnostics, etc; or are requested for payment above the approved package rate.

To lodge complaints, beneficiaries can call the NHPS Toll-Free Helpline at 1800-202-3380 or send an email to support-nhps@cmhis.nagaland.gov.in.
“Cashless healthcare is your right, don’t hesitate to reach out,” the NHPS said.

Three more private hospitals  empanelled
Meanwhile, the NHPS also announced the re-empanelment of three private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and the Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme (CMHIS) for the financial year 2025–2026.

The re-empanelled hospitals are the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR), Chümoukedima; Faith Hospital and Institute of Medical Sciences, Dimapur; and Nikos Hospital, Dimapur.

With this development, beneficiaries of AB PM-JAY and CMHIS can now avail cashless treatment at these healthcare facilities.

NHPS informed that the process to re-empanel more private hospitals across the state is ongoing and updates will be shared as the process progresses.
