CMO conducts Focus Group Discussion in Dimapur district

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 26 (MExN): Interpersonal Communication (IPC) using the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) method was conducted in 27 villages and 4 schools in Dimapur district from January 29 to February 20 by IEC Team under Chief Medical Officer, Dimapur.
The team consisted of IEC Bureau Personnel, District Community Mobilizer, Block Programme Managers, and Block ASHA Co-ordinators. Around 420 participated in the FGD sessions.
The Focus Group Discussion were held on four main pre-set topics namely on Family Planning, Maternal Health, Child Health and Adolescent Health. The participants were engaged on these topics during the FGD Sessions.
The IEC Team conducted pre-test on each topic during each session to assess their previous knowledge and awareness levels. While the participants were actively engaged in the discussion of the health topic, various health issues resolved and myths were dispelled. FGD sessions on these topics in schools were also held to ensure that early education was given to the youth; to instill in them healthy lifestyle and inculcate a health seeking behavior.
Besides the pre-set topics, information on other National health programmes in the district such as Iodine Deficiency Disorders, Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Vector Borne diseases, Ayushman Bharat, Tobacco Control, HIV/AIDS, 102-toll free No. for Ambulance Service, Non-Communicable Diseases, etc were also disseminated.
