DIMAPUR, MAY 24 (MExN): The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kohima today asked consumers to be cautious while purchasing high risk foods (perishable foods), keeping in mind the onset of the summer season. A press note from the CMO informed that it had received a complaint on May 22 with regard to sale of Chicken Bun from M/S Friends Bakery, Mohonkhola, Kohima. The said food item was found to be stale. The Food Safety Officer was deputed on May 23 for inspecting the establishment and thereafter an improvement notice was served to the Proprietor under Section 32 of Food Safety & Standard Act, 2006.
“While purchasing food items please check the manufacturing date and best before dates. In case of any complaint in regard to food items, please lodge your complain in writing addressed to the Chief Medical Officer (Designated Officer),” the CMO informed.
