CMO warns against unauthorized drug license inspections in Dimapur

DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dimapur has issued a warning following report that some NGOs, councils, and other organizations have been conducting inspections and verifications of drug licenses issued by the Controlling & Licensing Authority, Nagaland. A Circular issued by the Assistant Drugs Controller, Dimapur Zone pointed out that under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940, and the Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, 1945, only the Drug Control Administration is authorized to inspect and verify drug licenses. Any inspection or verification carried out by other entities is considered illegal and in violation of the Act. Retailers and wholesalers in the Dimapur Zone, which includes Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, and Peren, have been directed not to entertain any verification requests except those from the Drug Control Administration.
