Stakeholders and NVBDCP staffs at the advocacy workshop cum coordination meeting on anti-malaria held in Wokha on June 27.

Wokha, June 28 (MExN): An advocacy meeting for stakeholders as part of anti-malaria month was held at conference hall, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office Wokha.
An update from the CMO office of Wokha stated that Dr Thungchanbemo Ezung, CMO, Wokha spoke on the importance of source reduction which primarily aims to prevent development of aquatic stages of mosquito larvae. Proper sanitation and removal of stagnant water can effectively reduce the source of malaria, he added.
The CMO Wokha further called upon the stakeholders to join hands with the medical department in creating awareness on malaria.
Wezolo Medo, Consultant, National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) Wokha said the objective of the meeting is to increase community participation and spread awareness on vector borne diseases. He stressed on monsoon preparedness for malaria, dengue and Japanese encephalitis. Wezolo informed on the availability of free medicines, LLIN and testing for malaria provided by the medical department. He mentioned that there has been an increase in dengue cases across the district during the past two months and the department is making efforts to fight the disease.
Over 40 stakeholders including colony chairmen, GBs from Wokha town and NVBDCP staffs participated in the programme.
