CNC declares three days ‘national fasting & prayer’

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 24 (MExN): The Council of Nagalim Churches (CHC) has appealed for three days national fasting and prayer for a “final solution of the Indo-Naga political issue at the earliest.”

A press release from Ikato Chishi Swu, General Secretary, CNC described the series of events in the Naga political movement leading to the signing of the Framework Agreement in 2015 and said that since then, both sides have been tirelessly and ceaselessly working on it despite many hurdles.

It however regretted that despite coming up with the “mutually agreed competencies based on Framework Agreement,” the “double standard and hypocritical attitude displayed by GoI by refusing to recognize the Naga flag and Yehzabo (constitution) of the Nagas after recognizing it in black and white in the Framework Agreement has created a big hiccup for finding the final solution.”

The CNC however said that Naga leaders led by the chief negotiator and Ato Kilonser of the NSCN (IM), Th. Muivah “have strongly stood their ground, and they have clearly and firmly asserted that without the flag and constitution there can be no solution.”

It meanwhile cautioned that “enemy forces along with some treacherous busy bodies seem to be working to sabotage honourable and acceptable final solution for their selfish agendas.”

The CNC stressed on the need for prayer and informed declared three days national fasting and prayer from November 27 till November 29. It notified all regions, units, battalions and brigade churches under CNC and appealed to all denominational churches, prayer groups, prayer warriors and Christians to observe the same.

The CNC asked that prayers be offered for Naga people and especially the leaders to “genuinely confess, repent, completely surrender and commit their lives to the will and purpose of God;” to enable Church leaders to provide the people with spiritual guidance, and “destroy all the evil forces that are working in Nagalim and in;” to prevent Naga leaders and people from falling “into the lure, trap and temptation of the enemy;” and to pray for “unity and genuine reconciliation based on truth and historical and political rights of the Nagas.”
