DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 5 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has expressed resentment over the February 2 meeting convened by a particular tribe without prior consultation with CNTC and Tenyimi Union Nagaland. The CNTC media cell, in a press statement, pointed out that on November 21, 2023, representative from eight Naga tribes, in conjunction with CNTC and TUN convened a pivotal meeting which was also graced by deputy chief minsters, TR Zeliang and Y. Patton along with minsters G. Kaito Aye and KG Kenye, advisor Imkong L Imchen and advisor to chief minister, Dr Chumben Murry.
The outcome of the significant meeting was the unanimous resolution to forge a common platform under the collaborative banner of CNTC and TUN with the establishment of an apex body. The move is seen as a crucial stride towards fostering unity and collective representation for the Naga community in Nagaland, it stated.
However, CNTC expressed regret on the recent development of a particular tribe convening a meeting without prior consultation with the two apex bodies. It also claimed that neither organization was extended invitation to participate in the gathering.
Perceiving such “unilateral decision as a departure from the collaborative spirit that has been the hallmark of previous discussions,” the CNTC appealed that no such steps can be taken without consultation of the apex bodies in the near future in order to avoid confusion.
