CNTC reiterates disassociation from Naga Hoho

Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNYC) in its meeting on September 15 with all its constituents units, Ao Senden, Lotha Hoho and Sumi Hoho at Hotel Saramati has reaffirmed its earlier resolution to disassociate from the Naga Hoho “till a thorough restructuring with review of its constitution is acceptable through a general consensus.”

CNTC Media Cell in a press statement said that the Council also resolved to demand the state government to expedite the amendment of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 taking into account the views and suggestions of the tribes’ hohos and civil societies as invited by the state government.

“The CNTC still stands strong against any type of reservation policy in our local body’s elections but supports women nominees chosen from various backgrounds like state/national awardees, expertise and luminaries of different backgrounds through a committee,” it affirmed.

“The CNTC firmly opposes any taxes on land and buildings also as it directly infringes the very integral provision given by Article 371A,” it further stated.
