CNTC urges HM to fulfill 2018 election commitment of ‘election for solution’

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 6 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) has submitted a representation to Home Minister Amit Shah on the long pending unresolved Naga political solution.

The CNTC while appreciating the sincerity and efforts of the negotiating parties, reminded the Home Minister that in the 2018 General Assembly Election, the BJP had given a slogan ‘Election for Solution’ in which the people of Nagaland “accepted your slogan by participating in the general election.”

“However, in spite of coming to an end of this present 13th Legislative Assembly no logical conclusion has been made so far. It has been 26 years of political talk and we have understood that the formal talk has been concluded on October 31, 2019 and the CNTC is eagerly waiting for a direction from the Government of India for a permanent solution,” it stated.

It appealed to the Home Minister to fulfill the BJP’s 2018 election commitment, and said that unless the Naga political solution is announced, the CNTC may abstain from participating in the coming election.

“We representing the three major tribes of Nagaland assure you that we are ready to welcome the Naga political solution instead of election which will be in the interest of both the Government of India and Naga general public,” the CNTC stated.
