DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 6 (MExN): The Commanding Officer (CO) of the 89 RCC (GREF) has refuted allegations of harassment recently made by the labourers at 15 BRTF Headquarter 89 RCC (GREF) Sechü Zubza. The labourers had in a statement on October 4 alleged that they were being “harassed” by the labour in charge.

Refuting the allegation, a press statement from the Commanding Officer of the 89 RCC (GREF) said that “the labourers are working with BRO in complete congenial environment and as a team.” He added that “many welfare facilities in addition to wages are extended to labourers free of cost. These include free temporary accommodation, free to & fro transportation from camp to work site, free transportation of children of labourers to school from Zubza, free crèche facility, free water supply, free first aid and medical assistance, holiday on Sunday, and other benefits covered under ECA-1923.”

The CO stated that “in case of any mis-happening or accident on work site the workers are also provided first aid and immediately rushed to hospitals in government vehicles.” “Government staffs also have cordial relations with the workers despite work pressures to keep the traffic running on highway 24x7,” he said, while however stating that “during emergency, all staff including government and workers are deployed on work, even on holiday to ensure traffic worthiness of the road.” “However, they are given compensatory off on other working days. Labour in charge remain under work pressure but never resort to harassment or scolding,” the CO added.
