COCOMI apprehensive about Manipur's ‘disintegration’

Leaders of Coordination Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) on Sunday expressed apprehension that the government of India may "disintegrate" Manipur by force, while questioning the reason behind sending a large number of Central security forces to the state.

 

COCOMI had earlier announced continuation of its "alert campaign" as the Centre is yet to disclose the details of the agreed points of the Government of India and the NSCN-IM. COCOMI had also served November 4 ad deadline for the government to disclose the agreed points. Regarding the deadline, COCOMI leaders are likely to hold a meeting with the chief minister late on Sunday evening on the latter’s invitation.

 

Talking to reporters at one of the "alert protest" staged in Imphal’s Keishamthong on Sunday, COCOMI assistant co-ordinator. Khuraijam Athouba said that till date, COCOMI and the "people of Manipur" had not indulged in violent activities during the "public alert campaign."

 

Athouba then asserted, “We will stand firm against any ethnic based administrative arrangement in the state."
