CoGA team visits Nagaland House Navi Mumbai

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 9 (MExN): The Committee on Government Assurances of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman, Kuzholuzo Nienu and accompanied by G. Ikuto, Member, Er Hozheto, Chief Engineer, PWD (Housing), officials from the PWD Department and the NLA Secretariat visited Nagaland House at Navi Mumbai on November 6 & 7 for spot verification.

The reason behind the visit was to ascertain as to why till date after 13 years of completion of the building, it could not be made operational for public utility a press release issued by Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat, Secretary-in-charge Khruohituonuo Rio informed. 

During the inspection and high level meetings with the Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra, Manoj Saunik; Principal Secretary, Environment Department & Chairman, Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority, Pravin Darade, Vice-Chairman & MD Anil Digikat, City Industrial Development Co-operation and Joint MD, Dr Kailas Shinde, it was made clear that the Nagaland House building is now outside the Coastal Regulation Zone as per the new Coastal Zone Management Plan 2019 and can be occupied any time if it is a fit case for occupation. 

It took more than 13 years because of the non-availability of Occupational Certificate from Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation since the land had fallen under the Coastal Regulation Zone, the Committee was told. 

When Nagaland House is made operational, it will go a long way in saving and improving the lives of many Nagas who had been facing many hardships and untold miseries in Mumbai, the press release stated.
