“Tempest of Tranquility”, a poetry collection by Kurhungolu Ritse was released by Suohienuo Keyho, Principal, Extension Training Centre (ETC), Phek, SIRD on November 4.

Ritse is a 3rd-semester student in the Department of English at Capital College of Higher Education (CCHE), Kohima. The book was released at a function held at CCHE, Kohima. It was published by CUE Academy Publications.

The cover design and illustrations was done by Moasunep Longchar, a BA 5th-semester student at CCHE.

Addressing the gathering, Keyho maintained that poetry has a unique power to illuminate complex experiences and emotions, often resonating in profound ways. She said that each poem acts as a window into the poet's soul, inviting readers to connect, reflect, and find meaning within themselves.

Keyho commended Ritse’s accomplishment with “Tempest of Tranquility” as a bold endeavor and a testament to her patience and commitment.

Ritse described “Tempest of Tranquility” as a collective accomplishment made possible by the support of her mentors, lecturers and college. She thanked the college for creating a platform to express her thoughts and turn her dreams into reality.

Keyho maintained that poetry to her is a deeply personal language that allowed her to voice the unspeakable. She recalled almost abandoning her writing dreams but was inspired to persevere by her mentor, Dr Rukulu.

Meanwhile, Dr Rukulu Kezo Puro, Head of the Department of English, introduced the book as part of the department’s Expressions of Creativity project, which included student writing and illustration workshops. She highlighted the book as a product of students’ creative explorations, noting how Moasunep’s illustrations added depth to Ritse’s work.

Dr Zokho Venuh, Principal of CCHE, welcomed guests and praised Ritse’s accomplishment, calling it a significant academic achievement for the college.

The event was hosted by Academic Dean Abeino Zashu, with a prayer by Tatongkala Lemtur, Dean of Students and a vote of thanks by Dzüthozo Ritse.
