Dimapur, may 16 (MExN): The College of Nursing at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) in Dimapur inaugurated a state-of-the-art Simulation Centre on May 16, marking a significant advancement in nursing education and healthcare training in the region.
The centre was officially inaugurated by Dr Christy Simpson, former Principal of the College of Nursing, CIHSR. Former Principal, Dr Simpson highlighted that the centre is possibly one of the largest in India dedicated to nursing training. She remarked on the high demand for CIHSR graduates across the country, attributing it to the institution's commitment to excellence.
Dr Sedevi Angami, Director of CIHSR, emphasised that the Simulation Centre will not only serve as a training ground for students but will also be accessible to external users, thereby contributing to the broader healthcare community in the state. He highlighted that the presence of such a lab enhances the preparedness of medical professionals and reduces the need for direct experimentation on patients.
Equipped with the Arres System, the Simulation Centre offers high-fidelity simulation experiences. Manish Bansal from Medekom, the technology partner, mentioned that the lab, ranks among the highest-level simulators in the nation, offering a comprehensive learning experience. He also pointed out that there is no comparable facility in the Northeast region that is open for external use.
The 19,000 sqft Simulation Centre has been designed to be a resource beyond the institution, available for use by other medical professionals and institutions, thereby contributing to the overall improvement of healthcare services in the state and beyond. Notably, this Simulation Centre was entirely self-funded from internal resources, with no external funding received for its establishment.
The inauguration was attended by faculty, students, and staff of CIHSR, with the program chaired by Prof. Nukshijungla Ao and closing remark delivered by Prof. A. Purnungla Aier, current Principal of the college of nursing.
