
Dimapur, June 7 (MExN): The residents of Lengrijan, Hill View Colony, Industrial Estate Colony also known as Industrial village and Ao Khel have resolved to protect the integrity of the geographical areas of the Ward No 12 of DMC over the current census operations. Stating that they have “resolved not to allow any census operation activities to be carried out in any part of the areas covered by DMC Ward No 12”.
The four colonies in a joint press statement said that as per information the DMC’s Chief Engineer Officer (CEO) issued the census operation materials to one TL Angami relating to the areas covered by Block Nos 139 to 141 under DMC Ward No 12 as rural area. In this regard the colonies have stated that the DMC CEO is under duty bound to protect and preserve the areas of the municipality and no part of it can be surrendered to anybody.
“We have made an appeal to the DMC CEO to restore the appointment orders of the supervisors and enumerators in these blocks and recall back the census materials issued to T L Angami so as to carry out the census operation in the entire areas covered by DMC Ward No 12 as municipal area as was done during the past census, and no part the area to be surrendered as rural area,” it affirmed.
The note also stated that particulars entered in the census records are the foundation for the entities of every households and members thereof.
The residents have permanent postal addresses in all academic and official records and some people are having permanent marks of engravings with house numbers and names of the colonies in their respective residence.
However, if the present “colluded and manipulated practice” of census is allowed to continue in these areas under DMC Ward No 12 there shall be serious consequences of the ward and the recent direction “dated 04.06.2010. issued by the esteemed authority of the Director of Census Operations for Nagaland”.
