The 23rd Lt. Nyamo Lotha & Lt. Daniel Lotha Memorial Football Running Trophy 2017 started with a colourful opening ceremony at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur on Tuesday.
The football trophy is being organized by Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union under the theme, ‘Dirty Boots, Fair Game’ and the matches being played at State Stadium, near DC Court Junction, Dimapur.
In his speech, the Chief Patron, Myingthungo Ababe Ezung, Chairman & Managing Director, East Air & Charter Service encouraged the young players to utilize the event to showcase their skills and train themselves for bigger platforms nationally and internationally.
He also urged all the players to exhibit true sportsmanship spirit by abiding to all the rules and regulations and play a fair game. “It is not just about winning or losing but to play the game beautifully,” he added.
Ababe also thanked the family members of Lt. Nyamo and Lt. Daniel for their continuous contribution in kind and cash and for creating an opportunity for football players among the Lotha community.
A member of Lt. Nyamo Lotha and a representative of Kyong Nchumchio Okho delivered short speeches. DLSU Games & Sports Secretary, Chumdemo Ovung administered the oath to the players.
