Nirvana had a giant impact on music in the nineties and beyond, despite only lasting for seven years. They were formed in the grunge hot-bed of Seattle in 1987. Nirvana’s classic rock album Nevermind brought rock back into the mainstream, selling millions upon millions of copies. Nirvana reached a tragic end in April of 1994 when Cobain passed away. Throughout Nirvana's short career and till today the band changed the scene of alternative rock and have inspired many new bands. Rolling Stone calls them one of the few bands in rock history that had a more immediate and tangible impact on their contemporary pop musical landscape in the early Nineties.
This Friday (28th March), 9 accomplished bands from Nagaland, Guwahati and Shillong will be performing songs from the America’s most famous grunge band Nirvana at Upstairs’ first ever Nirvana Tribute Show.
Upstairs is most popularly known for hosting the best live music shows in Dimapur. Their stage has featured the most accomplished bands of Nagaland, popular bands from all over India and international artistes as well. Through this show Upstairs aims to bring talented artistes together and to keep different genres of music alive.
Lineup for the live show on 28th March 2014: Alobo Naga And The Band, Footprints, Paper Sky, Placid Pinch, Stereotype, Street Stories, Sulfurcloud, We The Giants and White Noise.
