Parliamentary Secretary for Justice & Law and SIRD, Er. Picto Shohe on Thursday made a fervent call to the people of Atoizu area to come together and strive for uplift of the area.
“I come here as a servant of the public and my aim is to develop Atoizu area,” Er. Picto said during the inaugural programme of the 40th General Conference of Atoizu Range Students’ Union (ARSU) which kicked off at Emlomi village.
The Chief Guest apprised the people of the area that he was trying to further connectivity among the villages through construction of roads and bridges many of which are ongoing while some work would start this year.
Calling upon leaders of the area to cooperate in such developmental works, Er. Picto also urged them to be rooted in the word of God. He drew references from Colossians 2:3 and Matthew 5:4 from the Bible while encouraging the gathering.
“I urge upon leaders to ask themselves, ‘who am I?’ and take God along with you to be the salt of the earth,” he appealed.
To the students participating in the conference, Er. Picto advised them not to merely attend the programmes but to learn new things during such gatherings and be benefitted. He also encouraged them to foster brotherhood and unity and work towards the progress of the area.
On the inaugural day, various participating units from Atoizu range competed in traditional couple wear, folk dance and song, traditional fire making etc.
The 40th ARSU General Conference is being held under the theme, “Indomitable Spirit” and hosted by Emlo Students’ Union. The conference will culminate on January 7.
