Dimapur, April 8 (DIPR): The Government of Nagaland has reconstituted the high-power committee for planned development of the capital complex area. The minister for Urban Development is the chairman. 
The committee will shall identify land to be acquired and allot it to various government departments and agencies not only within the land acquired in the capital complex Area but also any land acquired by government within Kohima town in as far as it relates to the Kohima town master plan. Likewise it will determine the size of land to be allotted to various departments for their office and functional buildings as well as monitor enforcement of building by-laws within Kohima town. The committee will cancel sites allotted to departments for setting up their functional buildings within three years of allotment.
Another function the committee is tasked with is to approve the design of the buildings proposed to be constructed by various departments and agencies who have been allotted sites in the capital complex area. The construction work by departments and agencies shall not be started unless designs of the buildings are approved by committee.
The members of the committee are deputy chairman of the State Planning Board, MLA of Kohima town, chairperson of Kohima Municipal Council, deputy commissioner of Kohima, additional deputy commissioner for Revenue, Revenue Officer of DC’s office Kohima, engineer- in-chief of the PWD, commandant of the 15th BRTF, director of Urban Development, Superintendent of Police of Kohima, Land Records & Survey Officer of Kohima; Officer-in- Charge of BSNL Kohima, and Secretary for Urban Development Department as Member Secretary.
Also, a sub-committee under high-power committee will study and suggest measures for improvement of the traffic system in Kohima. The sub-committee shall be as under to identify potential parking areas. The committee will also identify roads having scope for widening and examine the possibilities of private individuals in developing private plots/building terrace for public parking purpose. Likewise, it will recommend parking tax structure, suggest measures for improving the New Market road starting from New NST and connecting Naga Hospital. The sub-committee will also suggest street vending zones.
