Wokha, April 8 (DIPR): Strengthening the age-old friendship, a historic programme commemorating 50 years peace treaty between Phiro and Phenshunyu village was held today the April 8, 2011 at Phiro village, Wokha district.
In the programme, Rev. M.K. Lorin dedicated the monolith and prayed that the monolith would be a reminder of the strong bond of friendship between Phiro and Phenshunyu. Marking the 50 years peace treaty, 50 pigeons were released by the elders representing both the villages. Later CE, PHED Nagaland, Er. Mhondamo Ovung hoisted the flag, followed by folk dance by Phiro and Phenshunyu villages at Wozhuro ground, Phiro village. Representative from both villages delivered speeches emphasising on strengthening the bond of friendship between the two traditional neighbours. The best feature of the programme was the making of friendship between different age group of the two villages would remain for the entire life and would be continued for generations to come.
Highlights of the programme included release of souvenir, obituary references, adoption of resolution, special number and offering for the Joint Mission Project and presentation by Phiro youth. The programme was chaired by Zanvemo Lotha while Rev. A. Rapvuo Odyuo said the benediction. Earlier in the morning on the arrival of Phenshunyu villagers, God’s blessing was invoked by the oldest man of Phiro village, Khubemo Odyuo. Marking the day, a grand feast was arranged where both Phiro and Phenshunyu villagers, young and old, partook.
