Commissioner Nagaland designated as Registrar

Kohima, June 22 (DIPR): The Government of Nagaland has designated the Commissioner, Nagaland as the Registrar for enrolment of residents into the Unique Identification (UID) Project of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for the State of Nagaland.
The office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, now called the Registrar for implementation of UID in Nagaland, will enroll residents of Nagaland based on demographic and biometric data of the individuals by leveraging their existing infrastructure. The Registrar shall enroll residents through UIDAI’s approved Enrolment Agencies by following protocols, standards, processes and guidelines laid down by the UIDAI.
The office of the Commissioner, Nagaland, will function as the Registrar in the State under the supervision of the Planning Department, the State Nodal Department for implementation of UID Project in the State.
The UIDAI and the State Nodal Department shall have the power to conduct periodic audit of the enrollment process and shall have the power to visit and inspect the Offices of the Registrar and Enrollment Agencies to ensure that the system followed is in compliant with the UIDAI enrolment framework.
This was stated in a notification Vide order No. PLN/M-404/2010 dated 14th June 2011 issued by the Nagaland Chief Secretary, Lalthara.
