Commitment for Development: Zhimomi; SMVC submit memo

Dimapur, Oct 28 (MExN): “I am a politician, but providing mere lip service is not my bastion” said H. Khekiho Zhimomi, Minister of Industries & Commerce, Sericulture and Border Affairs, speaking as the Chief Guest at an inaugural Function of the Sugar Mill Village Council (SMVC) Hall at 5th mile, today.

Zhimomi reiterated his commitment towards initiating developmental works in the village. However, the Minister lamented that the lagging progress and failure of industrial activities in the once deemed Industrial village underlining the notion that development rested more on the commitment of the people than on the flow of money.

Meanwhile the SMVC submitted a two-point memorandum signed by Nehoshe Choppy, Chairman SMVC and Dr Sentimoa Longkumer, Secretary, to the Minister. According to the memo, the village road at the upper sector was in ‘deplorable’ condition and not motorable especially during rainy seasons. Stating that the road needed immediate attention, namely in regard to soiling and tarring as well as that the lower sector which need black-topping, the memo requested development of the same. Furthermore the SMVC stated that the local ground was also in need of a gallery to accommodate public viewing during various festivals and activities at the ground.

Minister Zhimomi assured earliest action to the two-point memorandum submitted by the village council. The Chief Guest also donated Rs. 20,000 towards the SMVC’s fund.
