You can draw attention of anyone with your finely honed round lips or goldilocks lips, shinny-silky flowing hair and cat walking in the cities and towns. Make smart moves in social gatherings and entertainment hubs with swaying A-shaped butts and parading your gorgeous apparels. You rightly achieve your purpose because you get attention. You can attract attention of anyone with your well groomed body, not too soft, not too rough to the touch, tall, well built, bright eyes, intelligent, elegant and confident countenance. You rightly achieve your purpose because you get attention. It is reasonable and acceptable to draw attention and feel good and invigorated. But a more lasting way to draw attention and make impact could be the spirit of commitment. Of course the end purpose of commitment is not just to draw attention, appreciation or recognition. Commitment is always connected with one’s zeal and passion. Commitment is always followed by accomplishment. And that’s the reason why commitment is a foundation of great accomplishments.

Definition of commitment by social science researches: “Commitment is the experience of being psychologically attached to something and intending to continue.” Commitment involves both mental and physical stamina and strength. We are aware that without commitment, there are no Olympic games. Without commitment, there is no Guinness record. Without commitment, there is no married life. Commitment guides, directs and shapes one’s life. Great commitments are important but small commitments too are very important. And both big and small commitments shape our lives. For example, a simple commitment is to just get off the bed every day on time. Without doubt, commitment is ultimately connected to freedom of choice. But very often choices can take away our commitment. In fact, choices are bad things for us, if we want commitment because we have a lot of attractive choices before us. Eventually in making choices, we have to minus lots of good choices to stay committed to few priorities.

Two fundamental questions are significant and can shape one’s life. What am I deeply committed to? What do I really want to commit to? These questions and answers can shape and crystallize one’s life. To stay committed, one has to plan well. In other words, commitment is not just a word. It is a process. And if it is a process, then how do I actually develop it? It requires plan and part of the plan includes Letting go some less important accessories (choices) in life. And to Let go can be really challenging because one has to prioritize. Once the process of prioritizing commitment begins, it leads to the process of giving up certain minor commitments, engagements, interests, pleasures, and enjoyments. Finally one is able to have a very high degree of commitment. The challenge before each individual is to continually find ways to increase the highest degree of commitment if one really desires great accomplishments and achievements. For every Olympic competitor, commitment is difficult but he/she knows that only commitment will take him/her to the gold medal. Commitment is indispensable if accomplishment is the goal. Commitment can significantly shape our lives. If so, why not shape our commitment in a significant way.
