
Dimapur, September 27 (MExN): A ‘high-power committee’ of the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has been instated to resolve the current standoff between some of the union’s units. The committee is primarily instituted to review the union’s constitution with particular reference to election and membership.
‘The committee is assigned to resolve the imbroglio with necessary reviewing of the constitutions with special reference to election and primary membership whose reviewing shall be approved by the union assembly before the lection of new office bearers,” stated a note from the union’s tribunal general Solomon L Awomi.
Any review or amendment of the constitution shall be enforced with immediate effect, the tribunals said. To resolve the impasse, the union’s tribunal has instated a committee comprising former DNSU and constituent leaders. The committee is to function in consultation with the tribunals as and when required and constituted to resolve the crisis at the earliest possible time.
The nominated members of the committee are V Phushika Aomi, Meijiang Gonmei, Daniel Tep, Obed Quinker, Vicky Nagi, Khondao Lotha and Toshi Longkumer. They are all former presidents, general secretaries and executives of the DNSU.
