Communitized Health Committees partners with NHP in fight against COVID-19 in Phek

Mokie village ASHA and AWW demonstration hand washing to the community. Village Health Committees of Molen and Mokie have constructed local made bamboo hand wash facility at the entrance of their villages.

 

 

Phek, May 7 (MExN): Communitized Health Committees supported by Nagaland Health Project (NHP) under Phek district conducted various activities in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

According to a press release issued by Rebekah Y Ezung, District Project Management Unit, altogether 36 Communitized Health Committees are supported under NHP in Phek district.

 

Meluri Town: The Community Health Centre (CHC) Meluri with support from the NHP organized a free health check up for the elderly people (aged 70 years and above) and pregnant mothers residing in Meluri town on May 3. Check up for Blood Pressure, Sugar, Ante Natal and general were conducted. Besides these, the importance of hand washing and social distancing were also highlighted.

 

Nutritional supplement, supported by NHP was distributed to all the beneficiaries. Altogether 76 elderly people and 10 pregnant women availed the services provided at CHC Meluri.

 

CHC Meluri with support from NHP also constructed local made foot pedal hand wash facility at the entrance of CHC Meluri and ADC office to ensure that proper hand hygiene is maintained by the community.

  

Molen and Mokie villages: Village Health Committee (VHC) Molen village and Mokie village supported by NHP along with ASHA and AWW took the initiative on sensitizing the importance of hand washing and social distancing in the village. Altogether 30 households including the pregnant women and elders were visited. They were given soaps. The VHCs of Molen and Mokie have constructed local made bamboo hand wash facility at the entrance of their villages.

 

Porba village: Supported by NHP along with frontline workers of Porba PHC, an initiative to create awareness on importance of Hand Washing to its community by visiting the households in the village and distributed soaps. A total of 100 households in the village have been visited.

 

Old Ruzazho village: PHC Ruzazho with the motto 'sanitation and hygiene for today and tomorrow' supported by NHP initiated and constructed the locally available bamboo hand wash facility  in all its 305 households and distributed soap to ensure that proper hand washing is practiced by the entire community. Demonstration on hand washing method was performed by the frontline workers.
