Kohima, August 27 (MExN): Kohima Smart City Development Ltd (KSCDL) in collaboration with the Nagaland Mountain Biking Association and the Tribal Cult will be conducting a free ‘Community Bicycle Workshop’ at the Old Assembly Secretariat from 10:00 am onwards on August 30 to promote “safe, smart and confident bicycling.”
KSCDL in a press release stated that the workshop is for everyone – commuters, recreational riders, young people, and more. The programme seeks to promote bicycle safety and equip old and new riders alike with the resources and skills they need to ride a bicycle safely and confidently, with the ultimate goal of increasing bicycle ridership in Kohima.
Basic cycling techniques like Braking, Cornering, Ideal Body Position, Attack Position, bunny hopping, climbs, jumps and drops will be demonstrated at the workshop by cycling experts from the city.
Participants are requested to bring along their own bicycles and safety gears. A few bicycles will also be made available for those who wish to give cycling a try.
This is in continuation of the India Cycles4Change Challenge whereby Kohima under the initiative of the Kohima Smart City Development Ltd. is participating in the competition along with 95 other cities. It is an initiative of the Smart Cities Mission, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India which would conclude by October 2020.
