Dimapur, October 12 (DIPR): A 4-day training of trainers on Community First Responder for Dimapur District got underway at Circuit House, Dimapur on October 12.
SDO (C), Dimapur, Albert Ezung who chaired the inaugural programme while giving introduction mentioned that such training programmes are being conducted keeping in view of the vulnerability of state to natural and man-made disaster. He further said that training of Community First Responder was necessitated because during emergencies the community people are the first responders yet they are not properly trained and have little or no knowledge of personal safety.
STCBO/DDMO, Khrolou Koza Lohe, who gave a brief overview of the training programme, informed the gathering that the Community First Responder Volunteers has been formed in almost all the villages and they are being trained to further train those volunteers. She also stated that the Community First Responder was first limited to state and district level but after experiencing the advantages of having such, it is now being taken down to the grassroot level. Topics to be covered during the training included brief introduction to IRS and Role of CFR, Personal & Scene Safety, Consent and Confidentiality and Art of Communication, Introduction to First Aid, Basic Introduction to Body, Emergency Methods of Rescue of Victims, Search Marking Systems, Fire Safety and Dos & Don'ts.
The programme is being organized by District Disaster Management Authority, Dimapur in collaboration with CD&HG and SDRF supported by Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, Home Department, Nagaland.
