Community first responders training for ENSF held in Dmr

Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): A Community First Responders Training programme for members of the Eastern Nagaland Students’ Federation (ENSF) commenced at the Central Training Institute (CTI), Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur on April 6.

A total of 104 trainees, including 81 male and 23 female participants, are attending the five-day training.

The inaugural programme was chaired by District Commandant, Dimapur, M Yingnyei Konyak, who spoke on the importance of community-based preparedness and the role of trained first responders in mitigating emergencies at the grassroots level. He urged participants to take the training seriously and serve effectively.

Commandant, CTI, HG, CD & SDRF, Avinuo, in her welcome address, said the training aims to equip participants with essential skills to respond during emergencies and support disaster management efforts. She stated that the institute has trained around 1,000 community first responders under the Aapda Mitra Scheme and nearly 700 volunteers from organisations such as NSS, NYKS, and Bharat Scouts and Guides.

She informed that the training includes sessions on first aid, road rescue, water rescue, firefighting, search and rescue, and disaster preparedness, with a focus on practical learning.

Secretary, NSDMA, Sentiwapang Aier, described the programme as a timely initiative to empower youth with disaster management skills. He said trained community members can act as the first line of response in remote areas.
