Community outreach programme at Mission Centre Longleng concludes

Community outreach programme organised by Department of Education, Nagaland University and Kohima Campus in collaboration with Phom Lempong (PBCA) was held at Mission Centre Longleng on May 5 and 6.

Longleng, May 6 (MExN): The two-day community outreach programme organised by the Department of Education, Nagaland University and Kohima Campus in collaboration with Phom Lempong (PBCA) was held at Mission Centre Longleng on May 5 and 6. 

The outreach programme was organised for teachers, students and parents of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyala hostels, Longleng under Samagra Shiksha Education Department, stated a press release issued by PBCA Executive Secretary, N Tialemba Phom.

During the outreach programme, the topics discussed were students and teacher’s relationship, teaching skills, methods of Teaching science and mathematics, counselling skills, methods and strategies of teaching, professional ethics and accountability, understanding Child psychology, importance of mental health and the topic for the parents were community participation in school education, responsible parenthood and Challenges and issues in education. 

Dr Lima, Associate Professor in her greetings and exhortation gave a brief explanation about the outreach and talked about their main focus which is to reach the unreached students, teachers and parents. She stated that not everyone have the zeal to learn new things and get better knowledge so she thanked the participants and encouraged them to learn and put their learning into practice. 

She talked about the role of teachers who plays a very important role not only in the students life but even in the society and the expectation for teachers by the society and talked about the challenges and pressure in the family and social life and encouraged the teachers to be strong in their spiritual life as it is one of the good traits of a teacher. 

Narola Chuba, Asst Professor in her short speech advised the teachers to think of themselves as Coaches and mentors and not as teachers as they are hired to help students and she also advised the teachers to encouraged the students to read Bible and to equipped the students, help them in developing their skills and not t teach them only what they as teachers knows but to help them to help themselves.
