The community participation in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) project has resulted in successful construction of the new school building of Government Primary School, R. Khel, Viswema village, which was later dedicated to the villagers by Chief Secretary Lalhuma, IAS here today.
Completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 lakh, the villagers had shown a good trend towards the project by contributing locally available building materials, free community labour and free transportations besides LAD fund.
Lalhuma, who is also the chairman State Mission Authority, SSA asserted that the successful completion of the building through the community participation “is the reflection of your interest you give to education.”
Education is the whole village responsibility; he said and asked the people to put collective effort and at the same time “give more emphasis to education,”
Lalhuma was hopeful that the new building will create conducive environment and brings quality education. He also urged upon the public to keep up the good standard of the building and showcase it as success story for others to emulate. Also speaking on the occasion, MLA KV Pusa said the successful construction of the building under the SSA has been possible through the active participation of the community and free will contributions rendered by the villagers.
Further, he stressed on the need to use the fund “judiciously and honestly.” Strengthening of structural facilities also requires immediate attention, he added.
“The construction of R. Khel GPS new RCC building with 2 storeyed having a total of six rooms has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 10 lakhs and out of which an amount Rs. 3.50 lakh has been received under SSA full construction sanctioned. The remaining estimated cost of Rs. 6.50 lakhs has been generated through free contributions of locally available building materials, free community labours and free transportations besides LAD fund, “ said Er. Mezakrol Rhutso.
He added that the school boundary fencing has been completed at Rs. 90,000 in which SSA sanctioned Rs. 40,000 and R. Khel Panchayat’s contribution stands at Rs. 50,000.
Vizosul Neikha, Chairman, Managing Board GPS R. Khel felt that with the inauguration of the new building, the teachers and the students should renew their sincerity, dedication and regularity.
Homesul Kin, Chairman, Rachumi Panchayat, Viswema also spoke on the occasion while vote of thanks was tendered by Akala Kin.
The function was chaired by Hovithal Sothu. Pupils of GPS, R. Khel presented a special number while Rachumi Youth Society enthralled the gathering with folk tune.
Principal Secretary, Education department Banuo Z. Jamir, special secretary to Health and Family Welfare Menokul John, additional director (HOD) school education Nipusilie and several other officials also graced the occasion.
