Complaint against police for alleged inaction

DIMAPUR, JULY 8 (MExN): Para Legal Volunteers (PLV) has filed a complaint against the Nagaland Police for alleged inaction. The case was filed by PLVs ST Yapang Longkumer and Odi Jamir at the Vigilance Police Station, Kohima on July 4.

According to a press release issued by the PLVs, they had filed an FIR at the Nagaland Police Headquarters against the state District Planning Machinery, Mokokchung on January 23 for alleged misuse of LADP funds under 22 Arkakong Assembly Constituency. It added that this was unearthed through RTI application.

The PHQ subsequently transferred the case to the Superintendent of Police, Mokokchung on January 24. However, it added that when they approached the SP, Mokokchung on the progress of the case on June 26, the SP “told us that he did not receive the said FIR.”

As a result, a second FIR had to be filed on January 28 “for the same reason,” the release said. Terming it as a case of negligence by the police, the PLVs urged the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Director to look into the matter and “take appropriate actions.”
