Complaint filed against Deputy Chief Minister before Lokayukta

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): A complaint has been filed against Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton, who also holds the home portfolio, before the Nagaland Lokayukta, for alleged “offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.”

The complaint was filed by one Vicca S Aye on February 19 who accused the Deputy CM of stating that “he can manipulate the examinations conducted by the National Public Service Commission” during a speech recently.

The complainant urged the Lokayukta to institute an inquiry/investigation against alleged “misdeeds and abuse of powers” by the Deputy CM. He also urged an inquiry into alleged “maladministration prevailing in the Police and Home Department.”

The complainant further asked the Lokayukta to issue appropriate directions to the Chief Secretary, the Home Commissioner and the DGP Nagaland to “prevent them from further aggravating the situation,” alongwith directives to “seeking approval of the Lokayukta before any further vacancies in the department are filled up either by way of transfers or promotions or retirement or resignations or otherwise.”

He meanwhile appealed that the Lokayukta consider that the investigation may be conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) “or someone of impeccable credentials and integrity.”
