
Newmai News Network Chandel | June 13 The Naga Student Union Chandel (NSUC) has appealed the State Government of Manipur to complete all pending government sanctioned projects in Chandel district. "It is learnt that, a number of projects/constructions are stalled with no further progress due to the government shutting the inflow of sanctioned funds," NSUC President Langhu David alleged and rued, "This is one factor which hampers the smooth progress of the region". Asserting that the NSUC will act as “mouthpiece” for the common people and defend the interest of Chandel “at any cost”, the union appealed the State Government to complete all pending government projects in the district. He also appealed the "state authority" to depute adequate teachers and provide required infrastructure to government schools and colleges in Chandel district. Meanwhile, the NSUC in a press statement congratulated Letpao Haokip, the MLA representing Chandel assembly constituency, on his elevation to cabinet minister in the Manipur State Government. "After a long period, an MLA from 41-Chandel Assembly Constituency has been given a ministerial berth in the State Government of Manipur," the NSUC press note said. The union expressed hope that the minister will ensure the improvement of livelihood of the people irrespective of different tribes living together in Chandel district and further assured its cooperation towards the minister in addressing "various core issues" pertaining to education, developments and also bringing peace and tranquility in the region. The NSUC also extended its "welcome" to the recently posted Deputy Commissioner of Chandel district, Krishna Kumar, IAS and urged the new DC to "act sincerely" in all matters and work "diligently" to develop the district in every sphere. "There has been no regularity in attendance of officers in the district in the past, however with the coming of the new State Government and efficient officer at the helm of affairs of the district, improvement and progress of the district administration are much on the card," the NSUC stated in a sanguine note. "All the stake holders must work together to ensure rapid progress of Chandel district," it added.
