Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): A day after the killing of Dichungbe Nriame, Deputy Kilonser and Central Administrative Officer (CAO) of NSCN (IM) Asalu (Zeliangrong) Region, many organizations today expressed condemnation. Dichungbe was killed by unknown person(s) at his residence in Jalukie Town on February 2 around 8:00 pm.
JSUN: The Jalukie Students’ Union Nagaland (JSUN) expressed shock at the killing and stated “such cold blooded killing culture and devilish behavior has no place in a peace loving society.” A statement from the union said, “The Jalukie land is a land of peace and prosperity and such acts not only tarnish the soil but create unfavorable environment to the citizens.” Condemning the incident, it asked the law enforcing authority to take appropriate action at the earliest to uncover the culprit. JSUN also requested the public to co-operate with the investigation, while warning any group or individual trying to cover/hide the culprit. It further conveyed heartfelt condolence and prayed that God grant solace and peace to the bereaved family.
NDPP Jalukie: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Jalukie unit also condemned the killing of Dichungbe. “At a time when everyone is looking forward for solution and final agreement between the Government of India and the Nagas, such act is a direct insult not only to family and Jalukie area but an insult to the whole Nagas,” maintained a condemnation note from NDPP Jalukie unit president, Pausuigwang Kulim and general secretary, Kaulak. Asserting that all right thinking citizens should come out and condemn such “cowardly act,” it also asked the authority to accelerate its investigation to book the accused at the earliest. The NDPP Jalukie Unit also offered condolence to the bereaved family.
ZPO (N): Condemning the killing, the Zeliang People's Organisation (Nagaland) in press statement from its Media Cell stated, “when all the people from different walks of life are striving for peace and reconciliation among different groups for an amicable and acceptable political solutions of the protracted Naga problem, such an act of action can derail this process and create unwanted situation and turmoil in the areas.” The ZPO (N) appealed to all sections of people to openly condemn such act of brutality and urged any groups or individuals to own “moral responsibility” for their act. The organisation further mourned along with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
Zeliangrong organisations: All the frontal organisations of Zeliangrong Nagas of Assam have also condemned the killing of Dichungbe. In a statement, they appealed to the authority concerned to place a high level enquiry to nab the culprit(s). The statement was appended by presidents of Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam), Zeme Council (A), GB Association (A), Zeme Pui Baudi (A), Zeliangrong Mipui Association (A), Zeme Students’ Union (A), and Zeliangrong Students’ Union (A).
