Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie has expressed pain over the demise of Lanu Longchar. He said Longchar joined the Congress party in 1980 and remained a steadfast congressman and valuable asset to the party till his last breath. He served as Chairman of the NPCC Ex-Servicemen Cell, Spokesperson DCC as well as Advisor to DCC, Dimapur, among others. “Late Lanu Longchar was a dedicated social worker who always put the plight of the people first and rendered yeomen services to the public to ease their suffering in times of disasters or need,” Therie added in a condolence message. “He will be remembered for generations for his exemplary and selfless service to the Congress party as well as to society.” All rank and file of the NPCC conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members.
In a different condolence message, Dimapur Bangali Samaj (DBS) stated the demise of Lanu Longchar, former Dimapur Town Committee (DTC) member and a “great lover of people of Dimapur, a man of principles throughout his life, a philanthropist, a great social worker, …personal elder friend of President DBS and overall a great human being, has shocked one and all.” DBS president, Advocate KK Paul in the message prayed to God to rest his soul in peace and give his bereaved family members strength to bear the sorrow.
The Dimapur District Citizens Forum (DDCF) has also expressed sorrow at Lanu Longchar’s death. Joseph Lemtur, president and A. Rahman, general secretary on behalf of the Forum prayed that the departed soul rest in peace and the bereaved family find solace. “Late Lanu Longchar was a person who kept relationship with every tribe and community in Dimapur and is a widely respected and kind hearted personality,” DDCF added in a message.
