Condolences pour in for Tokheli Assumi

Dimapur, May 19 (MExN): Tokheli Assumi wife of Pukhayi Sumi, former Advisor to the Government of Nagaland has passed away after a prolonged illness at Kohima on May 19. Following her sad demise, individuals and organisations have conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and also prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. 

CM: Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio said that Tokheli was a compassionate and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She was a humble person, who feared the Lord and taught her children to be kind and loving to others. “The family has lost a pillar and the void left by her absence will be deeply felt. The pain you must be going through is unimaginable but throughout her sickness you have been there for her and gave your best to care for her. Indeed, no words are enough to fathom the loss, however, let us reminisce the good memories and celebrate her life,” Rio conveyed in a message.

NDPP: The rank and file of Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) along with Chingwang Konyak, President, NDPP has condoled the demise of Tokheli. “To lose a wife and mother is an irreplaceable loss in the family and it is our continued prayer that God almighty will give comfort, solace and strength to the members of the family during this sad and difficult time,” Chingwang said in a press note. 

KG Kenye: Nagaland Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye mourned the untimely demise of Tokheli. The minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to Pukhayi Sumi, children and family members of the bereaved family. “I pray that Almighty God will grant solace, comfort and strength to my friend Pukhayi Sumi and his family during this time of grief and pain,” Kenye stated in a condolence message.

KSK: Kulolau Satami Kuqhakulu (KSK) in its condolence note said that Tokheli has served the society and community with utmost zeal and dedication in various capacities from being a student leader to being the abled, honest, humble, soft spoken and dynamic wife of a politician who always try her best to pacify things and be a peacemaker even at its worse times. “Her demised has created a vacuum in our community which will be impossible to replace however, we assure ourself to cherish and remember to carry forward her good deeds she contributed to our community,” KSK added. 

ESSU: The Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) in its condolence said that Tokheli was the pioneer of ESSU who served as Women President, during the year 1976-77. She was women of faith and kindness who have helped people at various levels. “As such, her demise has left a huge loss the people of Aghunato and Sumi's in General,” ESSU stated.
