Condolences pour in on the passing of NCD Vice President Holuto Aye

KOHIMA/DIMAPUR, JUNE 20 (MExN): Widespread condolences have poured in following the demise of Holuto Aye, Vice President (Administration) of the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), who passed away while undergoing treatment in Guwahati. Leaders, civil society bodies, and student organizations have expressed deep grief over the passing of the veteran public figure.

Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, Government of Nagaland, and MLA, expressed deep sorrow at the loss, describing Aye—fondly known to him as 'Imu'—as a humble and dedicated leader who committed his life to the service and upliftment of the Naga people.

“From his early days as a student leader to his social and political engagements, Holuto Aye served with sincerity, compassion, and unwavering dedication. His deep love for the people and tireless efforts have left a lasting imprint on our society,” the MLA stated. He added that Aye’s absence would be profoundly felt not only by the Sumi community but by the wider Naga society, which respected him for his integrity and quiet strength. On behalf of his family, the MLA extended heartfelt condolences and prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul.

The GB Union Dimapur (Sadar) also expressed deep pain at Aye’s passing. Describing him as a soft-spoken individual with a visionary and determined spirit, the Union said Aye worked selflessly for the welfare of the people and promoted peaceful coexistence among diverse communities. “His demise is a great loss to the Naga people and Dimapurians, who held him in high esteem,” it said. The Union conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

The Joint Council Forum, Dimapur, described Holuto Aye’s passing as a significant loss not only to his family and community but to the city of Dimapur as a whole. “Aye’s life reflected dignity, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to the collective good. Over decades of public service, he stood for fairness, unity, and social harmony,” the Forum stated. It added that Aye’s humility, clarity of thought, and resolve in the face of challenges made him a trusted leader. The Forum extended its solidarity to the family and prayed that his legacy continue to inspire future generations.

The Notun Bosti Council Dimapur (NBCD), where Aye served in various capacities, remembered him as a man of vision, wisdom, and integrity who was deeply committed to public service. NBCD stated that Aye had served as Treasurer (2010–2012), Chairman of Sumi Khel (2010–2020), Convenor of the Planning Committee during the Council’s 50th Golden Jubilee in 2019, and as Advisor from 2021 until his demise. “The vacuum he has left is irreparable, and his contributions will be remembered for years to come,” the NBCD stated, while conveying heartfelt condolences to his family.

The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) also joined in mourning, stating that Holuto Aye was a sincere and selfless leader who worked tirelessly for the unity and welfare of the Naga people. “His presence in public life was a source of strength and guidance. His leadership, marked by wisdom and integrity, will remain etched in the community’s collective memory,” the DNSU noted. The Union extended condolences to the family, the NCD, and all who were impacted by his work and life.

The Tangkhul Union Dimapur (TUD) expressed grief, recalling Aye’s role in numerous social causes and civil organisations. “His contributions to the Naga Council Dimapur as Vice President (Administration) were significant, and his demise creates a huge vacuum,” it stated. TUD offered condolences to Mrs. Kanili and the bereaved family, praying for comfort and strength during this time of sorrow.
