Condolences for Scato Swu

NLA speaker: Nagaland Legislative Assembly speaker Chotisuh Sazo has expressed shock at the sudden demise of Scato Swu, former member of Rajya Sabha on April 7 at his residence in Satakha. In a condolence message, Sazo acknowledged that the deceased was an ardent social worker and supported the solution of the Naga problem and tirelessly worked for the political settlement of the Naga problem with the Government of India. Sazo has expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to the almighty to grant them solace and courage to withstand the loss.

APO: The Angami Public Organization (APO) while conveying extreme pain at the sudden demise of Scato Swu, has said, late Swu was one of the most important figures and an indispensable personality in the 67 years long drawn Naga political struggle. “The towering figure that he commanded among our people and the contributions he has rendered shall remain ever alive in the annals of the Naga political history,” stated a condolence note issued by APO president. “In his death, we have lost one true son of Nagaland who lived a patriot’s life.” Remembering him as a leader, an educationist and an astutely upright man of his words both in the face of his friends and foes, the note added, “As a very grateful people, we must remember and salute him.” APO further extended condolences to the bereaved family.

NTC: The Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has expressed shock over the demise of Scato Swu. Terming him one of the prominent senior Naga leaders “who made selfless sacrifice of his entire cream of life for the welfare of the Naga people,” NTC stated, his death at a time when societies needed him most for guidance and consultation has created void in the Sümi Community in particular, and Nagas in general. NTC while expressing sadness has conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Naga Hoho: The Naga Hoho has remembered Scato Swu as a patriot and an intellectual leader who had served the FGN in various capacities through thick and thin. He was also the President of FGN from 1959-1976. The Hoho in a condolence note stated that Swu’s contribution towards the Naga political movement is immensely acknowledged and will be cherished always. “In his death, we have lost a great leader of our motherland who was a true patriot.” Expressing sadness at his death, the Hoho prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and serenity and calmness of the bereaved family.
