Dimapur, March 1 (MExN): Exuding confidence, the NDPP-BJP Alliance today said it will form a stable government by securing a clear majority on its own.
The assessment was taken after a meeting of NDPP-BJP Alliance Coordination Committee held today at Kohima to take stock of the political situation after the conduct of elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
In this connection, the meeting was chaired by the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party-Bharatiya Janata Party, Chief Ministerial candidate Neiphiu Rio “discussed the formation of government in a smooth manner in the greater interest of the people of Nagaland.”

The meeting lauded the people of Nagaland for coming out in huge numbers to cast votes and participate in the most important democratic exercise, the allaince said in a press release.
While appreciating the active role of the people, the alliance also expressed condolences to the lives lost in poll related violence and accidental death.
“The election related violence is condemned and we call upon the concerned authorities and law enforcing agencies to ensure that justice is delivered. We wish speedy recovery for the injured and pray for the departed souls,” it added.
It further lauded the Election Commission of India (ECI), the Election Department in Nagaland especially the administration and police for carrying out their responsibilities in commendable manner and carrying out the entire election process in exemplary fashion. Ditto for civil societies, NGOs and the masses.
"The movement of clean election campaign under the leadership of the Church needs the appreciation of all sections and though the challenges were significant, we can positively say that the movement is significant and has the potential to change our society for the better,” the alliance maintained.
NDPP suspends one
The NDPP today suspended Mathan Kithan, Senior Vice President for openly opposing the candidate of the NDPP-BJP alliance in the recently concluded election. NDPP said that complaints against Kithan were received from Wohka region as well as BJP members, including the BJP candidate. The complaints are found to be true and he is placed under suspension with immediate effect, it added.
