Tuensang, July 3 (MExN): The Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO), NBCC’s development wing, in partnership with Development of Human Potential (DHP- Imphal) organized a two-day conflict transformation and peace building programme in Tuensang.
The programme was conducted for four associations under Tuensang district, namely Chang Baptist Churches Association (CBLT), United Sangtam Baptist Churches Association (USBLA), Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association (KBCA), and Yimchungru Baptist Churches Association (YBBA). Angsham from DHP was the training facilitator.
According to a press release issued by the NDO, some of the important topics discussed were definition and structure of conflict, causes and stages of conflict, mapping conflict, approaches to resolve conflict, understanding peace, negotiation and mediation.
The main idea for conducting such a programme is to develop the local leaders to enhance the capacity for disseminating information on building peace in their own local areas, the release said. The participants were drawn from each tribal hohos, church bodies, student bodies, and women hohos.
Nagaland Development Outreach envisions that in near future such programmes will be conducted to sensitize the local leaders and build their capacities to become agents of peace, the NDO press release added.
